About the event

The Life and Times of Juanito Gonzalez is a very important and entertaining bilingual, family play. Through the life of the main character, Juan Gonzalez, the play explores the importance of education, love and life. The play is geared toward school children & youth with a clear and positive message that says, “...reading and writing and paying attention to your teachers is important.”

Meet Juanito Gonzalez, who lived to be 100 years old. On November 2nd, two years after his death, he returns to his campo santo (cemetery) pulling an old sack of books. The magical sack contains all the books he read in his life. Today his relatives will come to visit his tomb and to adorn it with fresh flowers. They will sing songs as they remember fond memories of him.

Before they arrive, he will tell the audience why he lived such a wonderful and beautiful life.…
